I love trying to live a slower life, which I've always viewed as precisely what you write here: being more aware and attentive to myself, my tasks and life around me. To invest in experiences over things and to just.. pay attention. I've often had to explain to others that it's not about speed (or lack thereof), nor to sit around and do nothing. Lately I've lost the slowness of my life a little bit, but I am working on finding my way back to it, which feels good. Reading this article helped inspire me a bit, thank you!
Absolutely! The slowness we're talking about here is so often misinterpreted as being about speed or 'nothingness'. I (Maddy) love what you've drawn out about being attentive to self and the world. And yes, prioritising experiences - really being and living - is such an important part of it too. Thank you for sharing your thoughts Rania, so glad the post was helpful for you. Hope 2025 allows you to find your way back to a slower path :)
Thank you, I am glad my thoughts on the topic resonate with you. I am sure I will find my way back, I have shifted my mind towards it and feel aware about what I need which is a good first step in the right direction :)
That's great to hear! We often find ourselves saying here at the Academy that awareness is always the first stage of any process of change. Wishing you well on the journey!
So glad, Ginni! For us it really connects with the rootedness of winter with that sense of grounded self and intentional action. Hope this new calendar year brings you plenty of opportunity for slowness!
Paradoxically I create 'slow' work deadlines for myself by bringing them forward a week wherever possible. This extra week means I can pace myself, I have space in case life throws me a curveball or a spanner. I can arrive before the deadline feeling ready, not flustered and panicked.
Yes! I (Maddy) do that too, it helps so much. It's a bit like deliberately setting your clock a bit fast to build in a bit of extra space. There's so much to be said for finding ways to give ourselves more breathing room :)
this was the most cosmically attuned article for myself to read, and begin my year with this approach as well. Thank you, I am so glad to be in your circle of calm.
Ah Shaza, we're so happy to have you here! Really glad these thoughts found you at the right time. Has the year been unfolding slowly and gently for you so far?

Lovely! I love the concept of 'slow' living as being purposeful and authentic... Lots here that resonates with how I'd like to experience 2025.

Love this. You describe the concept of slow living perfectly!
So glad it resonates, Hayley!
