This week’s notes
Why is the idea of immersion so relevant right now?
The element of autumn is water, associated with reflection, emotion, clarity, healing, release and more besides. When we think about this imagery, the idea of ‘immersing’ ourselves in the depths of these feelings and qualities feels very natural.
The call towards immersion becomes even more apparent when we consider the shortening days and incoming darkness of this time of year. We’re invited to turn inwards, go beneath the surface and explore our inner worlds, which very much relates to the idea of being ‘immersed’ in the sense of being gently held or contained in some way.
Early autumn can also be a time of immersion in terms of focus, when we’re deeply involved in plans and tasks as we sink back into the rhythm of life and work after the drifting days of summer - or as we look ahead and consider what we might want to complete before the end of the calendar year.
