Welcome to your weekly edition of Wildheart Club! Every Wednesday afternoon throughout the current season of the podcast, we’ll be sharing notes to accompany our most recent conversation - alongside journal prompts to deepen your exploration of the word and themes we chat about.

This post relates to Season 11, Episode 10: Drift. We recommend listening to the episode first, before exploring the notes and prompts below.

This week’s notes

Why is the idea of drifting so relevant right now?

We’re moving into late summer, and this can be a time of year when all our structures and routines start to stretch, loosen or even dissolve completely - for example: while balancing the responsibilities of work and childcare during the school holidays if that’s relevant for you, or feeling distracted and wanting to spend more time outdoors so letting more rigid schedules slip to make space for that. In general, it can feel very much like a season of floating or flowing, especially when the weather is as hot as it has been across much of the UK recently.

There’s something quite soothing about the word ‘drift’ - as though it describes a slower, softer state of being; a kind of loosening that feels good rather than scary. As this is the final episode of the podcast until early August, we thought it might be a helpful word to leave you with as we bring our summer conversations to close, so you’ve got an anchor to hold onto throughout the drifting weeks of July!
