Why is the idea of growth so relevant right now?

We’re moving steadily towards Beltane, a festival associated with fertility, abundance, and generative possibility. Growth in all its forms is intrinsic to this time of year, and ‘grow’ is our guiding word for the month of April here at The Wild Academy. Evidence of the natural world’s movement towards ‘production’ (the flourishing that will lead to later fruiting) really starts to become most noticeable during this phase of the cycle, and the background energy of spring’s air element continues to encourage us to rise upwards and outwards in a similar way.

The topic of ‘growth’ is indeed so poignant during late spring and early summer that we have actually recorded a conversation about this topic before! It was released almost exactly a year ago to the day that this current episode went out, so it’s definitely a theme that feels present at this point in the annual rhythm of things. Somehow we forgot we’d covered it before, but it’s a subject that has many layers and we thought it would be worth revisiting regardless.

As this is also the final episode of the spring season (and the halfway point of the podcast for this cycle through the Wheel!) it seems a fitting time to reflect on a personal level and think about what growth means for ourselves and The Wild Academy during this phase of our lives and work. We hope you find it interesting and/or helpful despite the slight repetition!
