Welcome to your weekly edition of Wildheart Club! Every Wednesday afternoon throughout the current season of the podcast, we’ll be sharing notes to accompany our most recent conversation - alongside journal prompts to deepen your exploration of the word and themes we chat about.
This post relates to Season 10, Episode 9: Expand. We recommend listening to the episode first, before exploring the notes and prompts below.
This week’s notes
Why is the idea of the expansion so relevant right now?
We recently entered the cycle of the Seed moon, the symbolism of which represents a final point of connection with our inner world and life ‘beneath the surface’. After this phase, the themes of the upcoming lunar cycles from May through to September (Flower, Mead, Hay, Grain, and Bramble) are focused much more on life above the surface and the things that will bloom, grow or be ‘produced’ from the efforts of winter and spring. As such, the Seed moon encourages us to look ahead to the flourishing months of the year and intentionally ‘expand’ in the sense of reaching towards all that we hope to ‘harvest’ during the next six months or so.
Now that the clocks have gone forwards here in the UK, we can also really feel the days lengthening, with the lighter evenings creating more space and a feeling of time extending and things becoming more open and spacious. After the enclosed and contained quality of winter, this can be a very welcome kind of expansion.
Finally, last episode we talked about the Warrior archetype, the part of self who guides us throughout April and supports us to ‘rise rooted’: to move towards purposeful action, whilst also standing firm in our truth and our values. Now that we’ve fully landed in April, you may feel this aspect of your identity making its presence known more strongly, calling you to ‘expand’ in whatever ways feel most needed and nourishing.
